Negro Leagues
The Negro Leagues were professional baseball leagues in America that consisted of mostly African Americans (Some Latin Americans were included).
Jackie Robinson
The color barrier has been broken with the help of Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson was drafted by the Dodgers and made his first appearance with the Montreal Royals in the IL (International League). Robinson then played with the Dodgers after one year in the IL. After his rookie season with the Dodgers, Jackie Robinson was awarded Nation League Rookie Of The Year. Robinson's accomplishments created a steady stream of talented black players to come into organized baseball. By being the first African American to be signed with a IL of NL contract, years later, over 150 African American players were in either the minors or majors.
