Nonviolent Resistance
Martin Luther King's bus boycott proved that nonviolent protest could be successful. MLK's whole regime was to not fight unfair ways with violence but to fight them with African Americans uniting as a whole and using passive resistance to get their point across. Martin Luther King and other Civil Rights Activists created the SCLC
(Southern Christian Leadership Conference). The main goal of the SCLC was to end segregation between blacks and whites. Also, the group encouraged African Americans to register to vote, even though it was a very complicated process.
